Solar Cookers Cooking With Sun
The Parabolic designThe Parabolic design was a bit more complicated, than a friend's box (his is below). 1. I took 6 poster boards (2'x3') and put them in a 2x2 configuration. (with Overlap making a 3'x6' flat unit). 2. I taped them together on both sides. 3. Then I lined one side with aluminum foil and glued it to the poster board. 4. I took the two bottom corners (lengthwise) and brought them together, creating a seam where the two halves met creating a parabolic "funnel". 5. I then made a rough cardboard shell to support this flimsy structure. Essentially two 3'x3' squares with an X to reinforce the middle, combined together with string on each side). 6. Sat it in a box. 7. Painted a Mason Jar with non toxic flat black paint. 8. Placed stand (cheap wire stand), mason Jar with food in it inside of a Baking Bag. 9. Blew some air into it, and closed it off. 10. Placed in Sun. I have maxxed the thermometer out at 230F, I have no idea what my top end has been. Pictures below:     The Box design is a bit more basic, two boxes inside each other, newspaper between them, a reflector surface (alum foil again), plastic bag to make a seal. Pics Below:
